AIR-CAS research aids in national forest and grassland pest/disease preventionIssuing time:2023-04-28 14:15 Recently, the General Station of Forest and Grassland Pest Control of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration sent a letter of thanks to the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR-CAS), expressing heartfelt gratitude for the effective support provided by the AIR-CAS's dynamic monitoring and early warning reports on forest and grassland pest control in recent years. They hope to continue to strengthen cooperation with the AIR-CAS and further promote the application of satellite remote sensing monitoring technology in the monitoring of forest and grassland biological disasters in China, and work together to make due contributions to the comprehensive and timely monitoring of major forest and grassland biological disasters and the maintenance of China's ecological security. The team led by Wenjiang Huang, a researcher at the AIR-CAS, has used data from China Gaofen (GF) series satellite data, US Landsat and MODIS data, and European Space Agency Sentinel series satellite data, combined with meteorological data and data on forest and grassland pest investigations. They have also combined pest monitoring and prediction models to develop a vegetation pest remote sensing monitoring and prediction system with independent intellectual property rights, which has realized large-scale dynamic monitoring and early warning of forest and grassland pest disasters and loss assessment, supporting the scientific prevention and control of forest and grassland pest control of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. |
